The road & its landscape

Valley pasture gives way to a higher grassland basin on this Tian Shan journey. The public-road experience is the transition between settings; the famous river-bend viewpoint is an additional scenic-area visit.

Confirm current road opening, motorcycle admission and stopping arrangements. The public-road approach, internal scenic-area transport and any sand or gravel riding are separate parts of the journey.

VIEWS FROM THE ROAD

Scenery along the road

Valley pasture gives way to a higher grassland basin on this Tian Shan journey. The public-road experience is the transition between settings; the famous river-bend viewpoint is an additional scenic-area visit.

Nalati valley

The G218 approach introduces pasture backed by mountains. Internal scenic-area roads are not assumed to be part of the motorcycle route.

Duku road crossing

The G217 connection changes elevation and opens the landscape. Check the current seasonal opening before planning the crossing.

Bayanbulak basin

Wide grassland and wetland define the higher basin. The Nine Bends viewpoint follows the scenic area’s access rules.

Road conditions & preparation

Plan each stage around altitude, seasonal weather, fuel, accommodation and the road surface. Confirm distances and daily riding times against the actual road line you choose, and make separate arrangements for scenic-area transfers or specialised off-road sections.

Confirm the detailed road line, fuel and current access before using this chapter to plan a ride. Scenic-area transfers and off-road riding may require separate arrangements.
