Harley-Davidson / New touring edition

Pan America 1250 Limited: an expedition package from the factory.

Factory luggage, protection and a quickshifter build on the existing Special platform; the V-twin is not an all-new 2026 engine.

Meet the motorcycle

The Limited takes the Pan America 1250 Special as its starting point and brings together accessories aimed at touring and off-pavement use. It is an important distinction: the update concerns a complete factory specification and finish rather than a newly invented powertrain. Its practical value depends on whether the included equipment matches the luggage, passenger and terrain demands of a real trip.

Announced on 14 January 2026. The 1250 Special platform and several electronic features predate this edition; they are described below as retained equipment.

UNDER THE SURFACE

The changes, explained.

01

120 litres, with the loading decisions still yours

The change

The Limited includes aluminium side cases and a top case developed with SW-MOTECH, with a combined quoted capacity of 120 litres.

How it works

Rigid cases protect their contents and provide repeatable attachment points, but loading farther from the centre increases the moment of the carried mass. Volume and permitted weight are separate limits.

What it means on a ride

The ready-matched set simplifies packing for a longer trip. Heavy tools and spares should still be placed low and close to the centre.

The consideration · Boxes add width and mass, particularly relevant on narrow tracks or when lifting a fallen motorcycle.

02

Clutchless shifting is an added control convenience

The change

A Screamin’ Eagle quickshifter is factory fitted for upshifts and downshifts. It is an addition to the equipment package, not an automatic transmission.

How it works

A quickshifter briefly manages engine torque so gears can change without the rider operating the clutch in its permitted conditions. The rider still selects the gear with the foot lever.

What it means on a ride

Reducing the number of separate control actions can be useful when standing and shifting between corners. Smoothness varies with engine speed and throttle load.

The consideration · Follow the specified operating range. It does not choose gears for you or eliminate the need for clutch control.

03

Protection is fitted, not merely listed as an option

The change

The announced package includes a muffler guard, aluminium skid plate and radiator guard; the shift and rear-brake pedal positions can be adjusted.

How it works

Guards intercept debris or spread an impact into their mounting points. Pedal positioning changes how far the boot must move when seated or standing; it does not change the transmission ratios or braking hydraulics.

What it means on a ride

This can reduce the accessory work needed before mixed-surface travel and make foot controls easier to reach with riding boots.

The consideration · A guard is not unlimited crash protection. Check mounting points and clearance after an impact.

04

Adaptive Ride Height is retained, with a clear purpose

The change

The Limited retains semi-active suspension and Adaptive Ride Height from the Special’s technical package. They should not be presented as inventions unique to this edition.

How it works

Ride-height adjustment brings the motorcycle lower at a stop and restores its intended running height in motion. Semi-active damping separately adjusts resistance to suspension movement.

What it means on a ride

With a tall touring motorcycle, easier ground reach can matter during repeated fuel and traffic stops. Retained technology remains relevant even when it is not a new feature.

The consideration · Lowering does not remove vehicle weight, and fit still depends on seat width, load and the rider’s proportions.

Where it fits

The Limited suits a rider who wants the Pan America’s established platform with a coordinated touring and protection package already fitted. Compare the included accessories with your intended load before deciding whether this edition is preferable to configuring a Special yourself.
