Meet the motorcycle
This is an equipment edition based on the Rally Pro, not a completely new engine generation. The 1200 brings radar warnings and heated seats into a 20-litre model while preserving the underlying large-capacity triple and shaft drive. Its name indicates a touring theme; it does not certify that every road or trail is appropriate. The following explains the published specification and its likely mechanical implications, without claiming a test ride.
Announced 11 November 2025; dealer arrivals from January 2026.
The key numbers
| Item | Manufacturer specification |
|---|---|
| Engine | 1,160 cc T-plane triple |
| Output | 150 PS / 130 Nm |
| Fuel tank | 20 L |
| Wheels | 21 / 18 in |
| Suspension travel | 220 / 220 mm |
Manufacturer figures for the market stated above. Dry, wet and no-fuel weights use different definitions and should not be compared directly.
The changes, explained.
New standard blind-spot and lane-change warnings
The special editions include rear-radar Blind Spot Assist and Lane Change Assist on the 20-litre platform.
How it works
A rear-facing sensor tracks vehicles behind or alongside. Blind-spot warnings identify a detected vehicle in the monitored zone; an indicated lane change can trigger a stronger warning.
What it means on a ride
This adds another source of information on busy road transfers, particularly when luggage or riding position changes the mirror view.
The consideration · It does not steer, make the lane-change decision or replace a shoulder check. Coverage and target detection have limits.
Heated rider and pillion seats
Both heated seats are part of the special edition’s enhanced standard equipment.
How it works
Electrical resistance converts charging-system energy into heat at the seat. This addresses contact warmth, a different need from a taller windshield or warmer gloves.
What it means on a ride
On a cold touring day the passenger benefits as well as the rider; this can affect stop frequency and overall comfort.
The consideration · Heating cannot replace weather protection or appropriate clothing. Settings should remain comfortable over a long seated period.
Semi-active Showa: retained hardware, explained
Desert retains 220 mm suspension travel and spoked 21/18-inch wheels.
How it works
Semi-active valves vary damping in response to movement and selected settings. Electronic preload addresses load support; it is a related but separate function.
What it means on a ride
The system aims to preserve body control as road inputs change, while the wheel and travel choices define each edition’s underlying priority.
The consideration · This is carried over from the base model, not a new 2026 invention. Correct load settings remain necessary.
The existing triple and shaft drive
The 1,160 cc triple retains 150 PS and 130 Nm, with a shaft final drive rather than chain drive.
How it works
Shaft drive encloses the final transmission in housings, reducing routine chain-cleaning tasks. Bevel gears redirect drive to the wheel and still require specified servicing.
What it means on a ride
For long road travel this changes the maintenance routine more than the special-edition paint or badging does.
The consideration · It is not maintenance-free and adds mechanical packaging. A larger engine also does not reduce parking effort or the consequences of mass.
A closer look at the hardware
Where it fits
Choose this edition for the added equipment and the base chassis that matches your riding. The special-edition premium should be compared with the cost and usefulness of the same accessories, rather than assumed to buy a new engine or entirely new suspension.
