The road & its landscape
The surface pass road rises above the settled valley, giving a different journey from the bypass tunnel.
Planning corridor: Canillo → Soldeu → Port d’Envalira → Pas de la Casa.
Why ride here
The surface pass road rises above the settled valley, giving a different journey from the bypass tunnel.
Scenery along the road
The surface road to Envalira climbs through the built-up valley around Canillo and Soldeu before reaching exposed high slopes. Near the pass, the terrain opens around the watershed, then drops towards Pas de la Casa. Choosing the tunnel would produce a different landscape sequence.
Canillo valley
Buildings and wooded slopes accompany the lower climb along the valley.
Soldeu
The resort landscape gradually opens into high grass slopes as the road approaches the divide.
Envalira
The exposed crossing overlooks a broad mountain setting before descending to Pas de la Casa.
Roads from above

Other roads in this range
Some photographs show other roads, visitor access or historical alignments in this mountain region. Their captions identify the difference from this chapter’s main corridor; vehicle access is not inferred from the image.

Sources & provenance
Summarised from public sources. A historic tourism plan describes a corridor, not current road access. Track authors retain ownership of their files.
