The road & its landscape
The Šumava road chapter stays among forest villages and upland clearings, outside protected walking trails.
Planning corridor: Vimperk → Kvilda → Modrava.
Why ride here
The Šumava road chapter stays among forest villages and upland clearings, outside protected walking trails.
Scenery along the road
The Šumava approach leaves Vimperk’s inhabited foothills for continuous border forest. Kvilda introduces higher grass clearings between the trees; around Modrava, streams and wooded valleys close the scene again. Protected-area peatland paths form walking visits, not motor-road shortcuts.
Vimperk
The inhabited foothills provide a transition into the continuous border forest.
Kvilda
The higher village opens the landscape into grassland and forest margins.
Modrava
Streams and wooded valley ground return near the settlement; peat-bog excursions are separate walks.
Road conditions & preparation
Check the road operator for snow closures and restrictions before departure.

Sources & provenance
Summarised from public sources. A historic tourism plan describes a corridor, not current road access. Track authors retain ownership of their files.
